Cetinje and Skadar Lake: Old Capital, Short Drive

What to see in Cetinje
King Nikola's palace, the monastery, the former embassy buildings along the main street and the National Museum. Two to three hours covers it comfortably. The Lovćen mausoleum is 30 minutes further up.
Combining Cetinje with the lake
Cetinje in the morning, drop down the switchbacks to Rijeka Crnojevića for lunch and the Pavlova Strana viewpoint, then continue to Virpazar for an evening boat. It is one of the best full-day loops in Montenegro and involves under 70 km of driving.
Getting between them
40 minutes to Virpazar, 20 minutes to Rijeka Crnojevića on a narrow, beautiful road. The temperature difference is real — pack a layer for Cetinje even in August.
