Exact timing by month

In June and July the sun drops behind the western mountains around 20:30, but the mountains themselves cut the light 20–30 minutes earlier than the official sunset time. A 19:00 departure is right in midsummer; in September a 17:45 departure gives the same effect, and in October you want to be on the water by 16:45.

Ask for a two-hour minimum. A one-hour sunset loop puts you back at the pier exactly when the best colour arrives.

Where the light is best

Head west or south-west from Virpazar so the mountains sit in front of you and the lily fields catch the low light. Skippers who know the water will stop the engine in an open bay for the last fifteen minutes — that silence, with pelicans crossing overhead, is the actual product you are paying for.

Avoid routes that finish in the narrow channel; the reeds are high and they block the horizon exactly when it matters.
